Calling all students!

Our Youth ministry is for students from junior high through senior high school (7th - 12th grade). We exist to come alongside families in the teaching, developing, and equipping of their students as they grow in their faith walk. We are committed to deep biblical teaching, building relationships through fellowship, and creating a serving culture.

Ultimately, in everything we do, our goal is to advance the Gospel in the hearts students, so that they would become disciples who make disciples. We earnestly desire that they would "walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God." (Col 1:10)

How Do I Get Connected?

Small Groups

Our small groups meet every Wednesday night from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the church building. Small groups are the primary “vehicle” for advancing the gospel to the youth. It's in this context where the truths contained in the Scriptures are both taught and applied. The small groups are divided into junior high and high school. By God's grace, the youth ministry has been blessed with tremendously gifted adult volunteer leaders who help lead these groups.

Large Group

The Sunday night large group gatherings are held on the 2nd and 4th Sunday nights from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. We have a firm conviction that the best way to advance the Gospel is through relationships, and these regular gatherings give us a great context to further build relationships.

Past Fun Events

  • Fall Retreat: Every Columbus Day Weekend the youth and youth leaders get away for a concentrated time of both spiritual and relational growth.
  • Pumpkin Palooza: Every Fall we take a night to do a pumpkin painting contest! Students bring their own pumpkins, but we supply the paint! We also have a couple of fires going to roast some marshmallows and have some good treats!"
  • Ultimate Saturday: Ultimate frisbee game, Saturday morning in the spring, for youth and adults.
  • Night of Mystery!: A fun night, during the Spring, for both youth and volunteers to dress up/get into character and figure out "whodunit".
  • Amusement Park Day-Trip: Late summer, an all-day trip to either Busch Gardens Williamsburg or Kings Dominion.
  • Worship Nights: Once a semester, we take time to change up our normal Wednesday night schedule and do a NIGHT of worship, helping redirect our hearts and refocus our minds on Christ.

Meet The Youth Director

Erik Beam - Youth Director

Erik is from Baltimore, MD and grew up in a big blended family. God gripped his heart with the Gospel as a kid, and gave him a burden for student ministry while in high school. He is a graduate of Liberty University with a B.S. in Religion and has completed additional graduate and seminary courses in ministry related areas. He has served in Youth Ministry for over 15 years and has a desire to bring love, grace and restoration to students who are broken and longing for something more than this world has to offer. Erik loves getting to teach God’s Word, building relationships with students, leaders, and parents.

Outside of teaching and ministry, some of his favorite things are rooting on the Green Bay Packers, watching movies, and reading fantasy or sci-fi books.

Erik is a Covenant Member and Deacon of GBC.
